What to Expect from Juvéderm Volux® XC Treatment
Juvéderm Volux® XC is injected into the jawline using a needle or cannula in a series of small, precise injections. Because it uses a thicker, more cohesive gel formulation than other Juvéderm® products, injection may take slightly longer and initial swelling may last a little longer while the product settles into place, typically resolving within about two weeks.
Most patients tolerate the treatment well thanks to the lidocaine included in the formula. Common side effects reported in clinical studies include temporary redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, firmness, lumps or bumps, bruising, discoloration and itching at the injection site. Most side effects are mild to moderate and resolve within 30 days. There is no surgical downtime, so most patients can resume normal activities right away, although we recommend avoiding makeup for 12 hours and strenuous exercise, excessive sun or heat exposure, and alcohol for 24 hours after treatment.
